Esther Lee Miller of Winchester, VA went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, February 21, 2014 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Miller was born March 25, 1924 to the late Arthur Burwell Lee and Emily Reynolds Lee of Clarke County, Virginia She graduated from Clarke County High School, attended American University of Washington, D.C. during WWII, while employed by the US Marine Corp and US Navy Dept Headquarters in Washington D.C. She lived in D.C. working as an Assistant Personnel Supervisor for the USMC until her marriage. Esther married Harry M. Miller, Sr. February 3, 1946 at Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester, VA. Her husband became an ordained minister and they co-founded the Winchester Church of God in 1952.She was strongly active, faithful and supportive of her husband’s ministry in the churches he pastored in Virginia. After Rev. Miller retired from pastoring she served as Secretary of the Retired Ministers Alumni for the Church of God in Virginia. She touched many lives by mentoring them through their Christian walk. Her greatest joy was sharing the love of Christ with everyone she met. She had unconditional love for her family, by taking pride in their accomplishments and supporting them with great words of wisdom through their challenges. As Proverbs 31:28 says, “Her children call her blessed”. She is survived by two children, Rev. Harry Miller, Jr. and his wife Teresa, Roanoke, VA; Sheryl McFarland and her husband David, Winchester, VA; a sister Eleanor Lee Estep, Winchester, VA; five grandchildren Rodney McFarland, Stephens City, VA; Phillip McFarland, Thurmont, MD; Paula Caylor, Lisa Walters and Marshall Miller all of Roanoke, VA and their spouses and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harry M. Miller, Sr., sister, Maybelle Ridgeway and four brothers Hunter, Roy, Edward and Albert Lee. The family will receive friends at 11am on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 and services will be held at 1pm at Winchester Church of God with Bishop Mitchell Corder officiating and Kent Woodward assisting. Interment will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, VA. Casket bearers will be Marshall Miller, Rodney McFarland, Phillip McFarland, Charles Walters, Craig Taylor and Douglas Kerns. Honorary bearers will be all ministers and their wives of the Church of God. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester Church of God Parking Lot Extension, 2080 N.
