Juanita Keach Gilpin

Juanita K. Gilpin, 89, of Colonial Beach, Virginia, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Lynn Care, Front Royal, Virginia. She was the wife of the late Vernon T. Gilpin. Juanita was born January 5, 1925 in New Albany, Indiana, the daughter of Corwin and Irene Keach (deceased). She moved to Virginia in the 1950s and quickly made her reputation as a gifted seamstress.Her skills took her services to the White House, the Kennedy’s, Nixon’s and many others in the VA, MD and DC areas. In the late 1970s she retired and moved to Colonial Beach where she was well-known for her friendliness and always being ready to give a helping hand. She belonged to the Colonial Beach United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher and volunteered at their Opportunity Shop for many years. She also planned trips for the Friendship Club there. When she reached heaven, she joyously met with her Lord and Savior and also with her parents, her brother Jack Keach and sister Frieda Melcher, her son Jackie Lee Tindle and many other of her family. She leaves behind two daughters Phyllis Lawrence and husband Don of Las Cruces, NM and Linda Money and husband Bob of Round Rock, TX and her (caregiver) daughter-in-law Norma Tindle of Winchester, VA, seven grandchildren: Don Lawrence of Manassas, VA, H. Jack Lawrence of Richmond, VA, Michael Money and wife Wendy of Stafford, VA, Chuck Money and wife Leslie of Austin, TX, Carrie Rysdyke and husband Joe of Round Rock, TX, Shelley Whittaker and husband Tim of Stephens City, VA and William Jack Tindle of Winchester, VA. She also leaves 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends, especially Alice Oates and Hattie Bristow. Her family is planning a get-together at a later date for a celebration of her life at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church where she was a member and taught Sunday School.
