Thomas Joel Dame, 79, of Winchester died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Winchester Medical Center. He was born September 6, 1937 in Rockford Illinois the son of Donald K. and Violet Carlson Dame. He married Clare Monahan Dame on July 11, 2009. Mr. Dame Served in the United States Army in Finance from 1957 to 1960. He received his degree in finance from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. Professionally, he worked as Ad Valorem Tax Manager and retired from Columbia Gas in 2003. He was also an Accredited Senior Appraiser Tom was a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Blue Lodge Winchester Hiram #21, 32 Degree Scottish Rite, Acca Shrine of Richmond and Blue Ridge Shrine Club. He served as President of Long Grove Community Church Council, Long Grove, Il from 1982 to 1988 and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Winchester, VA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters; Leslie Dame and her husband Paul Van Cott of Saranac Lake, NY, and Laura Dame of Burlington, VT.; four step daughters, Clare Ruday and her husband Sean of Charlottesville, VA., Jennifer Corson of Raleigh, NC; Eleanor Hamman of Richmond, VA. and Colleen Hamman of San Marcos, TX.; five grandchildren, Dylan Van Cott, Sasha Van Cott, Brody Ruday, Sawyer Ruday and Greyson Ruday, and a step sister, Lynette Taylor of Bradenton, Fl. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carlisle Dame. A funeral will be 2:00 pm on Monday, May 29 at Christ Episcopal Church 114 West Boscawen Street Winchester officiated by The Very Reverend Webster Gibson and the Reverend Bridget Coffey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice 333 W.
