Margaret Syvilla Walter, 71, of Middletown, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center, Winchester. She was born January 12, 1942 in Stephens City the daughter of Edgar H. and Virginia L. Campbell. She was married to Richard C. Walter who is deceased. Mrs. Walter was a member of the Eagles Aerie 824 of Winchester and the Middletown Volunteer Fire & Rescue. She enjoyed and participated in many fund raisers and functions with the Eagles and the fire & rescue company. Surviving are a daughter, Susan D. Varner of Boyce; a son, Richard L. Shull, Jr. of Martinsburg, WV; a granddaughter, Landora L. Kuhn of Boyce; a grandson, Courtney Varner of California; three sisters, Marry M. Sheets of Capon Bridge, Ruby Orange of Troutville and Ludell Sudduth of Stephens City; four great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. Six brothers, Marvin, Julian, Haywood, Edgar, Jr., Arthur and Joeloyd Campbell and a sister, Virginia Raythel “Hookie or Skeeter” Tomblin are all deceased. A memorial service will be Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 311 Hope Drive, Winchester with Rev. Dr. Ken Patrick officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown. Friends will be received on Saturday one hour before the service.
