Herman Edward Garrison

August 22, 1935 - July 30, 2016

Herman Edward Garrison Jr. of Winchester died Saturday July 30, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. Mr. Garrison was born August 22, 1935 in Belle Meade, Fauquier County, VA the son of Herman and Nettie Nalls Garrison. He married Catherine Baker Haines on September 1, 1970 and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He had been a member of the Virginia National Guard. He was a professional truck driver and retired from Rich's. He also drove for Crown Cork and Seal and Shenandoah Sand. Herman's favorite pastimes were playing bingo and having morning coffee with the fellas including Richard Fogle, Roger Jenkins and Paul Racey. He is survived by his wife and a sister Ruth (Sammy) Monroe of Clarke County. He is survived by children Gary Garrison (Mary Anne) of Summerville, SC; Diana Daugherty (Don) of McKinney, TX; Stephanie LaRue (Terry) of Frederick County, Sonny Haines (Tammy) of Roanoke, and Sandy Nichols (Lewy) and Pam Frye (Bobby) both of Winchester. He is survived by grandchildren Jeremy Garrison, Sean Garrison, Hillary McKeever, Robbie Baker, Benjamin Brigance, Missy LaRue, Rudi LaRue, Joshua Nichols, Justin Nichols (Brooke), Lance Gunner Wines and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A brother Lee Roy Garrison and a granddaughter Jennifer Haines Richards are deceased. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 527 Van Fossen St. on Saturday August 13, 2016 at 3:30 pm with a reception to follow. As submitted by the family.
