Elizabeth Zan Baldwin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elizabeth Zan “Maw Maw” Baldwin, 93, of Stephens City, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at her residence. She was born October 8, 1918 in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of Tate Johnston and Vida Mabel Walker Smith. She was married to Samuel O. Baldwin who is deceased. Mrs. Baldwin was a school teacher having taught all grades for over twenty-five years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Church of God in Arlington, VA. Surviving are a son, Chuck Cowing of Arlington; a daughter, Zan Ruby of Stephens City; five grandchildren, Maria Hickman and her husband Glenn, Angela Morelock, Stephen Cowing and his wife Marissa, David Ruby and his wife Jane, and Josh Ruby; nine great-grandchildren, Jonathan McKinney, Lizzie McKinney, Austin Hickman, Alex Hickman, Tala McKinney, Hunter Ratchford, Violet Ruby, Allison Cowing and Jin Ruby; a nephew, James Hulsey and a niece, Brenda Brinson. A funeral service will be Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 311 Hope Drive, Winchester (just off Valley Ave. past Arby’s) with Rev. Timothy Teates officiating. Burial will follow in Lovettsville Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA. Pallbearers will be Josh Ruby, Glenn Hickman, Austin Hickman, Jonathan McKinney, Joey Abramski and Ed Hausenfluck. Friends will be received on Monday, April 9, 2012, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W.
