Albert Lee Stevens, Jr., 80, of Winchester, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 in Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center. He was born March 21, 1938 in Montgomery, WV, the son of Albert Lee Stevens, Sr. and Annie Randolph. He was married to Shirley Jean Carter Stevens for forty-one years. Mr. Stevens served in the US Navy from 1956 until 1959. He was an iron worker and a member of the Local Five Union. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, singing, fishing, gardening and working with roses. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Brenda Courtland and her husband Michael of Winchester and their children, Heather Courtland, Christina Courtland and Bryan Courtland and Paula Slaubaugh and her husband Joseph and their children, Samantha Ferguson, Amber Slaubaugh and Shelley Slaubaugh; a daughter-in-law, Liz Stevens of Middleburg, PA and her children, Albert Lee “Stevie” Stevens, IV, Jesse Stevens and Layla Stevens; eight great-grandchildren and two brothers, Bill White and his wife Pam of Charles Town, WV and Frank Hawkins of Hume, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Lee Stevens, Sr.; his mother, Annie Randolph White; a sister Loretta Elkins and his son, Albert Lee Stevens, III. A funeral service will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 311 Hope Drive, Winchester with Rev. Paul Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery, Loudoun County, VA. Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the funeral chapel.
